4 ways going paperless benefitted Ochsner Health System

Increase productivity while supporting growth with OnBase

With eight hospitals, nearly 40 health centers and 13,000 employees, Ochsner Health System had an overwhelming amount of paper. It needed a solution to streamline processes. It also needed one that would integrate with Lawson, its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

“Paper wasn’t working for us anymore,” said Stacy Bundrick, vice president of accounting. “We wanted to create a paperless environment.”

The nonprofit, academic healthcare delivery system in southeast Louisiana addressed its paper problem – and a whole lot more – when it selected OnBase by Hyland.

Eliminating paper is only one of the benefits OnBase offers Ochsner Health System

Check out these other ways Ochsner is succeeding with OnBase:

  • Improves productivity by 25 percent: OnBase electronically captures and indexes incoming invoices, automatically routing them to the appropriate staff member’s queue for review. Ochsner’s AP department went from processing about 26,000 paper invoices a year to processing 325,000 invoices annually with OnBase.
  • Increases information access: By managing invoices with OnBase, Ochsner eliminated the need for AP managers and processors to spend time searching for files and either faxing or emailing converted PDFs to department managers to confirm payments to vendors. Now authorized users retrieve the invoices in OnBase themselves, keeping processors on task rather than looking for information they need to process accounts payable.
  • Improves auditing processes: OnBase provides parties outside of the organization access to information they need as well. Ochsner grants auditors temporary, secure access to OnBase to conduct audits without assistance from AP staff.
  • Provides better visibility: By capturing invoices in one place, Ochsner created more transparency through improved insight into their processes. As a result, the AP department approves for costs much more quickly, which managers appreciate as well.
